THE ORIGINS OF ORETEK

The idea to create a company came about in a faraway exotic place; the Pilbara mining region of Western Australia where the three founders were all working on the same project.

The Pilbara region is one of the hottest and driest in Australia: “the only nation that began as a prison. It is the home of the largest living thing on earth, the Great Barrier Reef, and of the most famous and striking monolith, Ayers Rock (or Uluru to use its now official, more respectful Aboriginal name). It has more things that will kill you than anywhere else. Of the world’s ten most poisonous snakes, all are Australian. (...) you may be fatally chomped by sharks or crocodiles, or carried helplessly out to sea by irresistible currents, or left to stagger to an unhappy death in the baking outback. It’s a tough place.”

BILL BRYSON, “Down Under: Travels in a Sunburned Country”

There are two characteristics of this remote region that struck us. The first was the continuous coming and going of ore transported by train from the mines to the port, where it was moved onto giant cargo ships. The second was the abundance of Aboriginal people, the country's first inhabitants, who live in the area.

We took the name from "ore" as a symbol of strength and found inspiration in the ancient and unique Aboriginal art for our logo for enrichment. Thus, we are building a business project to transform and enrich industrial companies using new technologies.
